Women's Health Care Group

The covered entity (CE), Women’s Health Care Group of PA, LLC, reported that it suffered a ransomware attack that affected the electronic protected health information (ePHI) of 300,000 individuals. The ePHI involved included names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and clinical information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In response to the breach, the CE implemented additional administrative and technical safeguards to better protect its sensitive data. OCR provided technical assistance to the CE and obtained assurances that the CE implemented the corrective actions noted.
