Vimly Benefit Solutions

Vimly Benefit Solutions, the business associate (BA), reported that employees were the victims of an email phishing scheme that affected the electronic protected health information (ePHI) of 182,947 individuals. The ePHI involved included names, dates of birth, addresses, Social Security numbers, and enrollment information. The BA notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. Complimentary credit monitoring services were also provided to affected individuals as well as a toll-free number for questions and concerns. In its mitigation efforts, the BA implemented additional administrative and technical safeguards and retrained its staff. OCR provided technical assistance to the BA and obtained assurances that the BA implemented the corrective actions noted.
