Ransomware at UH Cancer Center exposes data of nearly 1.2 million people
The University of Hawaii said a ransomware gang breached the Cancer Center's epidemiology division in August 2025 and stole research files, including 87,493 cohort study participants and older records with SSNs and driver's license numbers, for nearly 1.2 million people in total. The university paid for decryption and data destruction.
