Somnia, the business associate (BA) reported that it experienced a ransomware attack that compromised the protected health information (PHI) of 1,892 individuals. The PHI involved included names, addresses, dates of birth, drivers’ license and social security numbers, claims and financial information, health insurance information, medications, diagnoses/conditions, and other treatment information. The BA notified HHS, the affected individuals, and the media. The CE implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect PHI.
