The covered entity (CE), Roseman University of Health Sciences, reported that it experienced a cybersecurity attack that compromised the protected health information (PHI) of 4,622 individuals. The PHI involved included names, addresses, dates of birth, drivers’ license information, Social Security numbers, diagnoses, medications, lab results, and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In response to the breach the CE implemented additional administrative and technical safeguards to better protect its PHI. OCR provided technical assistance regarding the HIPAA Rules.
