The covered entity (CE), Renown Health, reported that a workforce member misplaced a USB thumb drive which contained the electronic protected health information (ePHI) of 27,004 individuals. The ePHI involved in the breach included names, medical record numbers, diagnoses, clinical information, and treatment information. In response to this breach incident, Renown implemented additional technical safeguards to better protect its ePHI.
