Fraudsters posing as customers hijacked accounts via call centre; DPC fines of EUR 277,500
In three incidents first reported to the DPC in May 2022, fraudsters holding some customer information called Permanent TSB's Open24 contact centre posing as customers, changed account details and obtained more data, leaving some customers with losses. The DPC fined PTSB EUR 250,000 for security failures and EUR 27,500 for late notification.
