Molina Healthcare, the covered entity (CE), reported that its business associate (BA) experienced a hacking attack that compromised the protected health information (PHI) of 7,702 individuals. The PHI involved included names, dates of birth, and health insurance information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In response to the breach, the CE provided complimentary identity theft protection to affected individuals. OCR provided technical assistance regarding the HIPAA Rules.
