Metropolitan Urology Group

The covered entity (CE), Metropolitan Urology Group, reported that it was the victim of a cyberattack affecting the protected health information (PHI) of 17,634 individuals. The PHI involved included names, Social Security numbers, and treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, the media, and provided substitute notice. In its mitigation efforts, the CE provided complimentary credit monitoring services to those affected and strengthened its administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect its PHI. The staff were retrained on security awareness.
