Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center

The covered entity (CE), Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center, reported that multiple employees were the victims of an email phishing attack that compromised the protected health information (PHI) of approximately 824,450 individuals. The PHI involved included names, dates of birth, medical record numbers, Social Security numbers, diagnoses, and treatment and claims information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, the media, and provided substitute notice on its website. In response to the breach, the CE implemented new technical safeguards and retrained its staff on email security.
