Laird Hospital

The covered entity (CE), Laird Hospital, Inc., reported that its business associate (BA) was the victim of a ransomware attack that affected the electronic protected health information (ePHI) of 1,092 individuals. The ePHI involved included names, dates of birth, addresses, medications prescribed, and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In its mitigation efforts, the BA strengthened its administrative and technical safeguards. OCR obtained assurances that the BA implemented the corrective actions noted.
