The covered entity (CE), Jersey City Medical Center, reported that an employee of its business associate (BA) was the victim of an email phishing scheme that compromised the protected health information (PHI) of 1,130 individuals. The PHI involved included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and other identifiers. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In its mitigation efforts, the CE implemented additional administrative and technical safeguards to better protect its PHI.
