Hendrick Health

The covered entity (CE), Hendrick Health, reported that it was the victim of a ransomware attack affecting the electronic protected health information (ePHI) of 640,436 individuals. The ePHI involved included names, Social Security numbers, diagnoses/conditions, and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, the media, and posted substitute notice on its website. The CE also provided affected individuals with complimentary credit monitoring services. In response to the breach, the CE implemented additional technical safeguards and established a new security awareness and training program for its employees.
