Stolen backup tapes expose Aetna and other health plan claim data
Thieves broke into the office of insurance vendor Concentra Preferred Systems on October 26, 2006 and stole a lockbox with backup tapes of medical claim data for Aetna and other plans, including SSNs or member IDs. About 130,000 were first reported, with more added later.
