Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters

The covered entity (CE), Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, reported that several employees were the victims of an email phishing scheme that affected the protected health information (PHI) of 914 individuals. The PHI involved included names, dates of birth, addresses, Social Security numbers, diagnoses, medical conditions, medications prescribed, and claims and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, the media, and provided substitute notice on its website. In its mitigation efforts, the CE implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect its PHI. In addition, the CE sanctioned the responsible workforce members and retrained its employees on the proper methods of identifying fraudulent email communications.
