Central Jersey Medical Center

The covered entity (CE), Central Jersey Medical Center, reported that it experienced a hacking incident that affected the protected health information of 88,000 individuals. The PHI involved included names, Social Security numbers, addresses, dates of birth, claims information, diagnoses/conditions, and treatment information. The CE notified HHS, the affected individuals, the media, and posted substitute notice on its website. In response to the breach, the CE implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards, and retrained its workforce members to better protect its PHI.
