Bosselman Energy Health Benefits Plan, a covered entity (CE), reported that it experienced a ransomware attack that compromised the protected health information (PHI) of 735 individuals. The PHI involved included names, addresses, Social Security numbers, and claims information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In response to the breach, the CE implemented additional administrative and technical safeguards. OCR also provided the CE with technical assistance regarding its HIPAA Security Rule obligations.
