The covered entity (CE), Abington Memorial Hospital dba Jefferson Abington Hospital, reported that it experienced a cyber-attack that compromised the protected health information (PHI) of 3,475 individuals. The PHI involved included names, member identification and claims information, birthdates, health insurance information, and other treatment information. The CE notified HHS, affected individuals, the media, and provided substitute notice. In its mitigation efforts, the CE implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards to better protect its PHI. In addition, the CE retrained its workforce members.
